Five Daily Beauty Essentials

I love a full face of make-up as much as the next girl, but sometimes I like to keep it minimal.

The kind of minimal you can do with your eyes shut (if you ever had to - because that happens all the time...) Anyway, I've found myself reaching for a few trusty favourites that can take me from half-asleep to looking slightly more put together, in a matter of minutes.

Corrector : Funnily enough, if I could only use one single beauty product, it would probably be a corrector. I have quite deep set eyes which give the wonderful illusion that I forever have big, dark bags under them - no matter how much sleep I get. A pink toned concealer, like the Bobbi Brown corrector, can really brighten up your under-eye area and, in my case, really make a huge difference in how I look.

Mascara : Being fair-haired, naturally my eyelashes are quite light and without the help of mascara, it basically looks like I don't have any. A quick swipe of Maybelline The Falsies (about my 10th repurchase - no exaggeration) or The Body Shop Define & Lengthen can make me go from looking like a thumb to having lovely long lashes.

Brow Pencil : Again, #fairhairedproblems - my eyebrows aren't too terrible without the help of powder or a pencil, but I definitely notice a huge difference when I do give them a quick once over. They frame both my face and my eyes, essentially, so it's worth neatening them up and defining them slightly. My two favourites are Mac Omega shadow, applied with an angled brush, or Hourglass Arch Sculpting Pencil in Soft Brunette

Blush : Even when I don't bother with foundation, I like to add a hint of colour to my face as I think it can make you appear so much more glowing & radiant. I keep reaching for the Stila Convertible Colour Blush in Lilium and Mac Cubic as they're such pretty, natural shades and can really perk up my skin in a couple of swipes.

Lipstick : I only started wearing lipstick in my twenties as I always assumed it was either bombshells or grandma's that wore it - but now barely a day goes by where I don't apply some colour to my lips. There are so many lovely colours, but as a general rule I tend to apply one similar to whichever blush I've opted for. My current favourites are Mac Impressive and Lipstick Queen Jean Queen for a hint of pink.

What are your daily essentials?
And if you could only use one product, what would it be?

  2. It depends! But I would choose probably mascara, red/pink/plum lipstick and concealer... If I can use only one product, it would be a lipstick!

  5. I have pretty big glasses so sometimes I can get away without using a concealer sometimes, but I know what you mean about lipstick! At first it was strange wearing it, but now I feel like I wear it everyday. I adore the Clinique Chubby Sticks!

  8. I always love the products you use! They're just overall super pretty, & the nicest colors. Nothing is too bright or over the top.
Honestly, I'm kind of a tomboy. My day to day routine only goes as far as maybe a little bit of concealer to cover my redness, a curl of the lashes & lip balm. I've tried to be girlish, but I'm just too lazy, haha!

  10. Hi Sam. I know I don't tend to comment very often but I just had to at this post! "Can make me go from looking like a thumb" just made me spit my coffee everywhere! Hahaha. I follow a LOT of beauty and lifestyle blogs but yours is the one I come back to the most often. I just love how down to earth all your posts are and as well as being absolutely (seemingly effortlessly) stunning, you always have something great to say.
    Much love xx

  11. I loved this post - it was right up my street! I love keeping it minimal on the face pretty much everyday with concealer, mascara, brow pencil (same one!), and a bright lip. But if I hadddd to choose just one, it would probably be mascara. It tends to make a big impact since I have some little shorties for lashes.

  12. Brow pencil or powder would definitely be my one product if I couldn't have any more. My brows are thick and dark but they need neated up and little bits filled in or they look so scraggy because I'm so pale my skin is basically blue.

Shading in my brows has basically been a face-changer!
