October Mini Goals

Another month, another set of goals!

September was a busy but fun month. There were a lot of new ideas flying around & generally a productive few weeks. I feel like overall I did okay with my past goals & I enjoyed having that reminder to get off my butt and get some fresh air more often! So here's how I got on and a few new ones to keep me focused during October...

September Goals

Make more videos : well... This kinda didn't work, at all. I did make one video, which is one more than I had done and I did record another but didn't like how it turned out... still - fail! Which, is a shame as I do enjoy the process, but I just never seem to dedicate enough time to it!

Practise, practise, practise : I think I can definitely check this one off the list as I've done more painting this month than I have in a long time, which has made me really happy!

Wild thing : I did up my yoga in September, but still not as much as I'd like. Something is better than nothing at least, but I really should put some time aside to get on the mat!

Get out more : Another tick! George & Alan have played a big part in this one, but in general I've been out & about a lot more and my mind is thanking me for it. It's so nice to just take a break and get outside, even if just for 10 minutes & it's definitely something I'll continue in October!

October Goals

1. Learn something new : I was lucky enough to have a lovely acoustic guitar passed down to me from my boyfriends step-dad recently. I've always wanted to learn how to play it properly, but when I tried when I was younger, I took up the tenor saxophone instead and I didn't pay it much attention. So, I have my books & notes and I'm ready to practise. So far, I'm pretty terrible, but hopefully by the end of October I'll have a few chords down!

2. Prioritise : One thing I've never been very good at is prioritising. I have a messy, easily distracted mind a lot of the time and I'm constantly flitting between one thing & the next. I don't think I'll ever be a perfectly organised person, but it would be nice to get a little bit better at completing projects before I start something new!

3. Run 5k : I feel like I get very lazy as the colder weather arrives. The temptation to stay indoors and veg out in front of Netflix will always be more appealing than dragging my ass to the gym, so I feel like a realistic goal may help keep me motivated. A few years ago, I had signed up for a half marathon and was on my way to 8 miles, when a torn ligament stopped me running altogether. Since then I've always been a little fearful of getting back into it, but I know it will do me good, so being able to run three, steady miles is my final goal for this month!

What are you hoping to achieve this month?

  1. I've tried to learn the guitar so many times.. I just can't handle the pain on my fingers! I'm also working on running 5k (before Christmas)! I set a goal for myself to be able to run 10k outside by Summer 2015 (I always get so jealous of runners in summertime! It's helping me get out a bit more and I'm really enjoying it so far!

Good luck with your goals this month.. I really need to do something like this to keep me motivated and focused!

    1. Haha, it's so painful, isn't it?! I'm slowly getting used to it, but I never realised before just how much pressure you have to put on to get the chords right! 10k by Summer sounds like an amazing goal, good luck with it all! xx

  2. Having monthly goals is such a great idea, I don't get outside often enough especially as the weather gets colder and so I need to try and make sure I get outside more! Also I loved knitting last year but I haven't made anything in a while so I'd love to pick that up again! Good Luck with your goals this month, I used to play the guitar and loved it :) x

    1. Thanks Katy! :) I know what you mean, I only ever seem to work one or two days in advance and regret it when I have busier days that mean I never seem to catch up! xx

  4. The 'Get Out More' thing is something large for me. I do a lot of my uni work at home and find myself staying at home for days at a time, I really want to start leaving the house once a day, even if it's just for a walk.

  5. I like these kind of posts :) Good luck with your 5k, I tried but found out that running isn't for me. If you want to do more yoga you can do the yoga challenge on YouTube, I find it a very good challenge and helped me to do it everyday :)

    1. I'm still not sure running is for me to be honest! :) I want to like it, but the majority of the time I hate it haha. The yoga challenge sounds good, I'll have a look :) xx

  7. Inspiring !
This month I want to work on the french version of my blog (translate all of it into french) and start posting new articles in french and in english in the future as having a bilingual blog was my original idea.

  8. I love this post- I think it's important to sit down sometimes and really think about what sorts of things you want to be doing. I definitely want to spend some more time on my little blog this month... I keep letting it slip into the background and I miss putting time and energy into it! X

  9. I definitely need to work on prioritizing too! Some of my goals are to start planning my New York trip & work on scheduling my blog posts more in advance!

  10. I think new months are great at setting up goals - when you have a deadline for something I think it puts a bit more pressure on you to get it done!
I think I'm going to try and set up a work out regimen for myself this month! And I bought a little basil plant and I want to keep it alive for a whole month - I'm a notorious plant killer unfortunately, but it's been two weeks and it's still looking good!

  11. Love this idea of monthly goals, it is something I need to write down myself. Totally stalking your blog this evening by the way. I have got my sketch pad out myself as your water colours made me want to paint again! xxx
