September Mini Goals

I really enjoyed writing down my mini goals a few months ago.

It instilled a sense of responsibility and commitment, that actually resulted in me growing my nails (woo) & eventually painting more. Small things, but achievable ones, that have made me ever so slightly happier in the long run (you can read them here, if you fancy). So, after a bit of a terrible August, I'm ready to embrace September with open arms and a new set of goals in mind! I always see every new month as a fresh new start, so hopefully this will be a good one.

1. Make more videos. I really love editing videos. Like, possibly more than is considered normal. I find it so much fun, but I'm super awkward in-front of the camera. So, I don't have much content to edit - which is kind of a problem. This month I hope to put my awkwardness aside and dive head-first into the world of Youtube. Or at least maybe aim for one video a week!

2. Practise, practise, practise. I'm a bit of a perfectionist. I feel like I've lived most of my adult (and some of my younger) years so fearful of failure, that I don't even attempt to try, and if I do, I'm so worried about not doing well that I don't even enjoy it. But this really isn't how things work - practice makes perfect; so I'm going to dedicate September to trying at least one new, 'scary' thing (maybe an exercise class or eating alone in a busy place) & working harder at the things I want to be better at.

3. Wild thing. Speaking of practise, my yoga has been pretty much none existent for a while and I really miss it. Probably for fear of failure reasons, I'm nervous to get back into it, but one pose I really want to have the guts to try is 'wild thing' or 'camatkarasana'. It looks really quite fun and I love chest openers/back stretches but I've never had the cojones to try. So, hopefully by the end of September I will have given it a go!

4. Get out more. Working from home definitely has its perks, but I find myself inside a lot and I've realised it has a really negative effect on my mental state. I can go a bit stir-crazy and get particularly cranky when I've been at my computer all day long. So this weekend we signed up for Borrow My Doggy (exciting!) and I'm hoping having a four legged friend around a few days a week will help keep me company & get me out and about a lot more. Win, win really!

What do you hope to achieve this month?

    1. Don't get me wrong - I'd give my right arm for my own pooch, but living in an apartment doesn't allow it :) so 'borrowing' for now shall have to do! Xx

  4. Oh my gosh, Borrow My Doggy is such a cute idea! Kind of reminds of things like Cat Cafes that they have Japan where you can go into a cafe and just play with cats!
I love the idea of mini goals for the month - one of mine is to save up a bit more money and to work on my photography.

    1. Aw thank you Tasha! I think one a week might be a bit adventurous at the minute, but then maybe it's the push I need to make it work :) looking forward to your videos too! Xx

  6. Hello Sam! I loved your goals too and I recently watched a video by Nick Miller which also encouraged us to get out and have some fresh air and I'd really like to do that. I'm heading for a stressful time at school and I want to be able to have that breathing time and also get used to being by myself because I feel too attached to social media sometimes, even if that just means having it open in a tab. I loved your goals and I do hope you have a wonderful time with your four legged friend! It sounds wonderful! :D x

  10. I love the sound of that website - it will be handy to know in a few years when we finally move out and have to leave our beagles (don't worry, I'm not abandoning them. They're my boyfriend's parents' dogs, so they'll just be staying with their rightful owners). Of course, that would happen much sooner if I actually started saving for a deposit... Perhaps that should have gone at the top of my own September goals list!

  11. I definitely need to get out more. I do a lot of my uni work on the computer so I'm not even out of the house in class every day. It feel so good when you do spend a day out after a few days of being cooped up.

  12. I really need to start making more videos again! I go through stages of only doing one every few weeks or then getting two up every week. It's so time consuming though, and I'm a bit short of that at the moment. One video a week is a great aim!

  17. Hi! I will definitely try out number 2. It has inspired me to get back on my fitness routine and spend a little extra time reviewing my school material. And I am really interested in yoga so maybe September will be the month that I sign up for a class. Loved your goals list!
