I had my hair cut... 12 months overdue, but I had it cut and my goodness, am I pleased about it!
I think I'm fairly open on this blog of mine, so it won't really be a surprise to some, that after a fairly hectic and stressful start to the year, my hair and its up-keep has been the absolute last thing on my mind. I didn't realise until I went to the hairdressers on Thursday, that it had actually been a year since I last went to get it cut & coloured at Sassoon in Manchester.
In that year, my hair had grown something crazy. I was starting to resemble a wild, hairy animal. And although my inner hippy was kinda loving the over-grown look, another part of me just couldn't cope with the scraggly ends & roots that were down to my ears.
Pre-appointment I went a little Pinterest crazy and started getting some 'hairspiration' together. I knew I wanted a fair few inches chopped off - not quite 'long bob' territory, as popular as that is at the moment - but definitely shorter. I also had the idea of getting a fringe cut in for good measure too. I've always loved fringes on other people and I love how they can almost completely change how your face looks.
So after many, many hours of browsing face shapes & which fringes suit which people... I settled on a center-parted, loose long fringe. I actually originally wanted to go the full fringe route, but I chickened out slightly when sat in the chair and thought an easier option for now would be best!
All in all, it took seven hours to do, from start to finish - I can't lie, I did feel a little bit bad, but they certainly earned their money that day! Plus I may or may not now have my eye on the Philip Kingsley Daily Damage Defence they used, as it somehow completely detangled my hair post-highlights (which if you've ever had highlights before - you'll know the crazy mess it is afterwards!). Miracle worker, I'm telling you.
Overall, I'm very happy with the outcome... A natural, mink-y blonde full head of highlights and an 'above boob length' cut with a few layers round my face, plus a little fringe - that's kinda 70's and I love it for that! Chloe always does a wonderful job of colouring my hair & Melissa was so kind giving me tips on how to best dry my new 'do.
It feels so much healthier, lighter and yet has a lot more volume than it previously did. I definitely won't be leaving it that long again in between appointments... touch wood!
