I'll Be There For You

do, doo, do-doo, do, doo-doo, doo-dooo!

I'm yet to encounter a person that doesn't love Friends. No matter how many episodes I watch & re-watch, I still laugh at a good 'how you doin'?' and 'oh, my, gahd' Janice moment. So when the lovely people at 'simplyhealth' asked if I'd like to bring a plus one along to view some retro Friends episodes at the rather fabulous Everyman Cinema in Leeds... I couldn't resist.

The event started with everyone gathering in the private theatre screen; which had it's own bar/lounge area and a separate cosy seated room full of two & four seater sofas and even two hanging egg seats (!). The simplyhealth event organisers were so incredibly welcoming and made everyone feel at home. We even received a little goodie-bag on entering, that had some cinema essentials, such as popcorn & toothbrush shaped sweeties to nibble on throughout, which was a lovely touch.

Even though it may seem a little odd to watch something you could watch at home on a huge cinema screen, it was actually so much fun! The atmosphere really was as if I was watching it with lots of friends and everyone was laughing along to the epic punch lines - my favourite quote of all time being...

Joey: You gotta find out if he's in the same place you are. Otherwise, it's just a moo point.
Rachel: A moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It's like a cow's opinion. It just doesn't matter. It's moo.
Rachel: Have I been living with him too long or did that all just make sense?

Four episodes and numerous ciders later; it was safe to say we both had a wonderful time. Spending over an hour laughing, socialising & relaxing really put me in a great mood for the rest of the evening. My Great Grandma's 'catch-phrase' is to always get a belly-laugh in a day and I definitely hit my quota that night! It's amazing the effect a smile or a laugh can have on yourself or even the people around you. If you want to learn more about the psychology of laughter, you can do so here

Thanks again to simplyhealth & the Everyman Cinema for such a great night!

Who's your favourite Friends character?
Mine's Phoebe all the way!

  2. That is SUCH a cool event!

My friends and I rigged up a little home cinema by stacking up two sofas and setting up a projector screen on the wall to watch the whole of Season 1 of Game of Thrones.

Genuinely one of the best nights I've ever had! :) xx

  3. *raises hand* I never liked Friends (still don't).
Before the mob with pitchforks come for me, the event looks fun. There's a Central Perk in Liverpool apparently that my sister is always raving about :)

  7. What an awesome idea for an event! And it's so true that you can't not love Friends! I don't binge watch them as much as I used to, but when I do all the quotes suddenly come flooding back! I bet the atmosphere was amazing. :)

  9. How neat is this! I used to live in Burbank (LA) and I got to see the Central Perk set-it was amazing!! It would be so cool to get invited to something like this, because like you said, who doesn't love Friends?
How awesome is it that they gave you Central Perk mugs as well!

    xx
