A Few Of My Favourite Things #5

For once, I have actually managed to get a favourites post up at the 'proper' time! Yay!

I haven't bought many new things lately but I've found myself loving these products throughout July, so I thought I would share my thoughts with you!

First up is a body smoothing duo : the Soap & Glory Smoothie Breakfast Scrub and Body Buttercream. I know these products are kind of old news to most people, but I've been fairly late jumping on the band-wagon (as always). These smell almost edible, thanks to the maple syrup scent and together they make my limbs beautifully soft. The scrub is probably my favourite overall, as it's a really gritty texture - yet doesn't irritate the skin, which is perfect for my ridiculously dry legs!

Sticking to skincare, the Oskia Renaisance Cleansing Gel has been my cleanser of choice for the past two months, but I've particularly been enjoying it in July as the weather has been so warm *looks outside to grey clouds*... okay, most days have been warm, and I personally find nothing more irritating than when cleansing balms melt in the bathroom. So this gel/balm hybrid has been perfect for that. It smells absolutely beautiful (heavily rose/turkish delight scented) and has worked wonders at balancing out the drier areas of my combination skin!

One lipstick that hasn't left my side has been the Lipstick Queen Jean Queen (quite the mouthful). My friend kindly bought me this for my birthday in May. It's my first product from Lipstick Queen but I am super impressed. It's exactly the kind of lipstick I love - hydrating, sheer and non fussy. It's really easy to build up or simply keep as a pretty hint of colour. The texture reminds me a lot of the L'Oreal Rouge Caresse lipsticks - so if you're into that, you'll love these!

As for cheeks, I've been reaching for the Rimmel Santa Rose Blush more & more lately. It's an old-y but a goody, plus it's super cheap! Sure, the packaging is much to be desired, but the product itself is so pretty. A subtle peach-y, rose pink that adds the loveliest swipe of colour. It's my favourite grab & go blush at the minute as it just goes with so many different looks. Love. It.

Typically, I hadn't painted my nails today, but a colour I have been really enjoying is Eternal Optimist by Essie. A pretty muted, pastel rose that isn't too barbie, nor too in-your-face. It's the perfect me shade!

Finally, VSCO Cam app... I can't get enough of this! I used to swear by Afterlight for tinkering with my Instagram snaps with (@sammi_x if you want to follow!), but I've moved on to VSCO Cam and I regret nothing! It has more in-app purchases than I care to look at, however they rotate the freebies often, so just keep checking back to add to your filter collection. They're all so authentic & typical of film cameras; they can make even the most boring image that bit more interesting. I can't get enough & highly recommend it!

What have been your favourite things this month?

  3. Hey Sam! I love Lipstick Queen as well and Jean Queen has been on the list of things to get for a long time! I got the Oskia gel in April and it was so hot here It almost felt greasy when I used it.. I though it would be better for colder months! I am surprised you like it for summer.. do you have very dry skin?

    1. It's such a pretty shade! You should definitely try it out :) And, I quite like that heavy, balm feeling - gels are a little too drying on my skin, so this is a really great combination for me! I'm sure I'd use it in slightly colder months too, but would go back to, say, Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm for winter. My skin is combination (leaning more dry than oily) and dehydrated xx

  6. Really pretty lipstick, it looks moisturising and subtle enough to wear everyday but with enough colour to give a pretty pout.

  11. I've just bought the Oskia cleanser so I'm excited to try it, thankfully my Space NK points made it a bit less expensive. Hopefully it helps clear up my stubborn spots that have irrupted overnight :)
