Yorkshire seems to be really having it's moment in the spotlight lately!
First Le Tour de France and now the Great Yorkshire Show - showcasing the best of what the North has to offer (a lot of tweed, flat caps & cattle, fyi). So when Danielle kindly emailed me and asked if I would like to attend the Great Yorkshire Show with Hobbs London, I was really excited for a day of quintessentially British goodness. And I was not disappointed!
The day started with a lovely browse around the Hobbs London store in Harrogate. Hobbs is a fairly new brand to me personally, but I know it's an extremely popular one throughout the country - known for its luxe, modern & elegant pieces. Everything was of such wonderful quality and if I ever had a special event coming up, I know where I'd look!
We then all headed off to the Great Yorkshire Show - the largest agricultural show in England. Another first for me! I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was amazed by the amount of brands, shops, animals and events happening all around the huge arena. The Great Yorkshire Show actually happens on the second tuesday of July in Harrogate and has been doing so since 1951 (which makes me a little embarrassed to say I'd never really even heard of it - oops).
The first thing we saw was the fashion show, where brands such as Barbour & Hobbs showcased their Autumn/Winter collections and some of their current Summer pieces. There were also some great items that had been designed by fashion graduates from various Northern universities.
Then, we had a look around the rabbit show - which I was possibly most excited about - and got to see lots of lovely show bunnies and their cute little snouts. I never realised there were so many different breeds of rabbit until now, but it was great to see them in all their glory!
After a quick spin on the ferris wheel, we wandered into the Women's Institute tent (really, could it be any more British?) for sandwiches and pots of tea (okay, it got more British). It was lovely to have a good chat & get to know Rachel,Bryony and Joanna(who all have great blogs & vlogs that you should definitely check out!)
As the rain clouds started to loom, it was time to head home, but not before a quick walk around the cattle & horses, where we even found a teeny tiny pony and her even teenier foal. And a beautiful owl, that was so mesmerising - I couldn't believe we were allowed to stroke it! It was so soft & so beautiful. It definitely ended the day in a wonderful way!
Overall, I had an amazing time and would highly recommend checking out the Great Yorkshire Show today or tomorrow, if you live up North! And thanks again to Hobbs for inviting me!
