Welcoming in the New Year

I don't know about you, but there is definitely a part of me that is looking forward to settling back into normality!

Excessive eating and drinking does my skin & general health no favours (duh) and so after New Years Day I'm always left feeling like I've been hit in the face by a breeze-block of pain.

Although it seems I'm complaining, I actually had a lovely time. We spent the 31st at my favourite restaurant Fazenda in Leeds (if you're around, check it out!) and then welcomed in 2013 at home with drinks. Too many drinks. In fact I spent all of Tuesday in my pjs, hoping I could go to bed... But really, overall I've loved the festive season!

Instead of suffering with post-Christmas blues, I figured I would give myself some things to look forward to.  I also think this year I'm going to try my best to be a bit better with money by joining in the 100 Day No Spending Challenge. It lasts until the 10th April and I think it will be really interesting to see if I can do it! I'm terrible for buying frivolous things that I really do not need, plus my bank balance could really do with a break after Christmas!

Everyone seems to have different exceptions, so here are my rules;

♥  No spending on any make-up, skincare (unless I have completely run out of everything) or clothes.
♥  No sale purchases, including accessories - seems I'm like a magpie.
♥  No Starbucks, Pret lunches or any other form of 'take out' if there is food in the house.

Only exceptions;

♥  My sisters birthday in March, my Mums birthday in January and Valentines Day in February. The gifts will of course only be for them and not me! :)

And there you have it. Hopefully I'll be able to see a difference in my bank balance and I'm sure it will teach me a thing or too about thinking before I buy! Will you be doing the 100 Day No Spending Challenge?

This is my only type of 'resolution' as I genuinely believe every new day is a day that you can change something about your life or your person. In my eyes, you don't need a new year to achieve that.

What are you looking forward to in 2013?
I hope it's a great year for you all!

  1. Yay, I'm pretty positive we can do this! I'm keeping away from town until April (ahem... hermit much) but then there is always online shopping!

  2. I think I'll be joining the spending ban in a less official way! I don't buy *as* much as some people but I'm partial to the occasional Starbucks/Costa lunch and if I find something I like I will buy it! Although I've gotten myself a fair bit for Christmas so it shouldn't be too difficult! xx

    1. Sounds good :) I don't think I buy as much as some either but sometimes I find myself buying stuff purely for blog reasons - madness! Xx

  6. I should probably take part in the no spending resolution as well! As soon as money arrives into my account, it seems to be gone just as quickly! x

  7. Good luck with the spending challenge! Such a good idea. I am trying to only use what I have in the house too, I have so many products sitting around gathering dust. I have already failed in the sales purchases! haha
