Venice [On A Point & Shoot]

A day after arriving home from Spain, I set off to Croatia.

En Route to Outlook Festival, me & my friend stayed in Venice for the night before taking a coach to the festival. Using HostelWorld we found Venice BB Venezia  - and I couldn't be happier that that is where we decided to stay.

We arrived in Venice around 7pm & it was getting dark, but that didn't take away from the beauty of the city. I was so pleasantly surprised. I've never been to Italy before, although I had always wanted to, and Venice lived up to all expectations.

The B&B was essentially the main highlight of our stay (and thats saying something, Venice was amazing in itself!). Alessandro and his very cute dog Gina (above) were super accommodating. The bedroom was lovely and homely, the kitchen was quirky and full of trinkets, everything was spotless and I couldn't have loved it more!

The morning after a night of wandering around, eating pizza and ice-cream (claro!), we were woken up to freshly made bruschetta, followed by bread brought straight from the bakery - we left wishing we had more time to spend there.

In just 12 hours I had fallen in love with the place!

As we were heading essentially to a festival, naturally I didn't take my DSLR with me (something which I regret badly!) so, unfortunately, these images are taken with a fairly bad point and shoot. I'm no camera snob, I know there are some excellent compact cameras out there - just unfortunate that this wasn't one of them! Live & learn I guess!

Venice will definitely be somewhere I revisit when I have longer to truly explore it and that B&B will 100% be where I stay.

Ps. it didn't smell, contrary to popular belief. Leeds smells worse after the weekend!
Hope you like the pictures! Have you ever been to Venice?

  2. Venice is one of my very favourite places. Especially when you walk away from the touristy bits. I found a really nice peaceful square last time I went and we sat and ate ice cream away from the big crowds, perfect,
