September & Winter Favourites!

A new type of post to grace my blog today; my September (and winter) beauty favourites!

I love these kind of reviews on other peoples blogs, so I figured it was about time I got round to doing one myself! I mainly like them because you can genuinely tell what people have been using & loving, so its great to maybe discover new items you've never used before!

As the colder weather has been setting in, I've noticed I've changed a couple of bits in my 'most used' makeup bag - also some of my body & hair care too. So here are 12 items I've been loving this month!

Body Shop Cheek Colour - 01

This blusher gives the most perfect 'frost bitten pink' colour of all the blushers I own (see above!). I'd recommend it for paler skins as the colour is very fair but buildable and (in my opinion!) a very nice, subtle winter shade. I tend to back away from bronzers & shimmers in my blush while the cold weather is here so this is ideal!

Collection 2000; Lasting Perfection Concealer - 02

For just over £4 I can't get enough of the Collection 2000 concealer. It does what it says on the tin - you can't go wrong. I'd buy this again in a heart beat!

Ginvera BB Cream

I've added the Ginvera BB Cream in here as I know people tend to go 'matte' as far as foundation is concerned when autumn/winter arrives - I, however, stick to sheer tints. My skin can become quite dry and the last thing I really want is a matte foundation showing up flaws. This BB cream hydrates my skin and covers up blemishes, so this is what I'll be opting for. (review here)

iD Bare Minerals; Mineral Veil - Translucent

The Bare Minerals Mineral Veil is something, I'll admit, I found at the bottom of my drawer one day. As soon as I used it - I wondered what I'd been doing all this time! This is a nice alternative to MACs Mineralize Skinfinish; it absorbs any grease, smooths out perfections & (I personally think) makes my makeup last longer. Perfect for winter when you're battling the wind & rain!

Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturiser

Liz Earle is a brand I have heard of for years, but only in the past few months have I used their skincare products. I can't tell you how impressed I am with this moisturiser, it is genuinely the best I have ever used. I have combination skin - so to have something that moisturises dry parts and balances out oily patches is genius. I love it!

MAC Satin Lipstick - Faux

This MAC lipstick is quite old now, but it something I've been reaching for more & more. It is a 'better than your lip-colour' type of lipstick - with slight purple & berry tones. It goes on lovely & smooth, almost feeling moisturising at the same time! A very pretty, subtle shade for the winter months.

Maybelline The Falsies Mascara - Black Drama

This has been one of my main purchases this month. I'd heard a lot of rave reviews about The Falsies and figured for £8 I would try it too - as its generally cheaper than most I would buy. I have to agree with the great reviews, it is a very good mascara! I wouldn't say its the best ever but I do like it!

Models Own Eyeliner - White

Perfect for making your eyes look wider and giving your eyes a softer look - I never thought I'd like white eyeliner as much as I do this one, and for just £4 it was a steal.

Palmers Coconut Body Butter

Palmers have been around for years, as a cruelty free company I admire their brand & ethics. I ordered this in September as I suffer from very dry skin on my body so I needed something thick & moisturising to slap on it! This is just that. Its cheap, but excellent quality. I think this may even beat Body Shops Body Butters - its that good!

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer

As well as a dry body, I also have dry hair (hurrah) - I need intense hair masques to combat the years of bleach & dying it. I received a sample of this when I got my hair done at Vidal Sassoon Manchester and loved it instantly. It helps your hairs elasticity, preventing split ends & makes it nice and frizz free. My hair has never been in such good condition - all thanks to this.

Stila - Living the Life in Laguna Eyeshadow Palette

I bought this palette during the summer, but I wasn't convinced it was for me. However having used it again & again I love the colours for winter. It contains very subtle (but very pigmented) pinks & purples with a nice brown to create a different smoky eye to your blacks and browns. And its always nice to add a swipe of colour to your face in this dull weather!

Victor & Rolf - Flowerbomb.

And, finally. Viktor & Rolfs Flowerbomb. Whats not to love about this scent? I've been using (and loving) my Jo Malone English Pear and Freesia perfume which I bought for my birthday but I feel like this is a more 'winter-y' scent. It is still very floral (obviously) with hints of rose, jasmine & orchid however to me, combined, it is quite heavy & musky - which I like when the air gets colder!
And there you have it. I'm sorry it was long! Turns out I haven't really 'reviewed' a lot of things I like this month so I felt I should explain why they're there!

What have you been loving this month!?

  1. I'm completely overhauling my skincare now that we're moving towards colder weather and have been thinking about the products I'm using most. Actually, my favourite this month has been a pretty basic moisturiser- E45's Intense Repair moisturiser. Have been using it for stretchmarks (nearly due to have a baby!), but it would be BRILLIANT for legs etc in cold weather. In fact... I might have to write a review!
